Steve's Birthday!

Happy Birthday to the best Father and Husband a family could ever dream of having!  Steve's birthday fell on a Friday this year and the boys were so excited to celebrate with him!  Steve was off to work before the boys woke, but once up, they were very anxious to begin making Daddy's birthday cake and decorating the house for him.  Steve's birthday cake tradition has always been a red velvet cake (a whole bottle of red food coloring!) with SUPER buttery frosting between each layer.  As you can see, the boys may love the cake just as much as their father!...

The plans for the evening were to treat Dad to dinner at a restaurant of his choice...well, plans were made to be changed...even on your birthday!  Poor Mason caught the same nasty cold/pink eye that Garrett had days before and with a spike in his temperature, we weren't going anywhere :(  One more thing to add to the "Awesome Daddy" list is that he picked up his own birthday dinner (thank goodness for Applebee's car side to go!) and arrived with the same smile and excitement he would have otherwise.  Mason spent the remainder of the night curled up on the chair fighting to keep his eyes open as we celebrated with a quiet dinner at home, some cake and presents.

The boys put more thought into their gifts to Dad this year...Mason had his heart set on a new lighter, in a new color for camping and Garrett was super excited to pick out a Wii game to play with Dad.  I love that they can come up with their own ideas and their indecisive mother doesn't have to do all the thinking!

We joked that this was the only candle we could come up with but as I write and look at the picture, he can be thankful that only a handful of people really know how old he is :)  Happy Birthday Honey!
