~April~
April was a super busy month (as most months are these days!); Mason moved out of his toddler bed into a big boy bed, we celebrated Easter with Steven's family, Garrett's preschool class visited the fire station, and Garrett tried out coach pitch baseball ...enough activity to keep us very busy indeed!
One night before bed, Mason said, "Mom, I'm ready for a big boy bed like Garrett...I don't want all these bars around me any more!" (his crib converted into a toddler bed so it was very much a crib minus one side of railing) Inside, I was jumping for joy at the idea of one less transition to go through with Mason (he's not a fan of transitions, unless of course they are his idea!) so I told him, "Great idea Mason!" and that weekend we were off in search of a new bed and he sleeps better than ever, what a big boy!
Easter was a lot of fun for the boys this year. They woke up to eggs hidden everywhere, as well as presents from the Easter Bunny and Grandparents...they were so excited! After finding eggs at home and opening all of their gifts (boy are they spoiled), we headed off to a nearby small town egg hunt where the boys got even more candy and pictures with the Easter Bunny, I can't believe how close Mason is to that bunny and with a smile on none-the-less...that is a big accomplishment for my little bug! Next up on the agenda...Aunt Jackie's house! The boys had such a great time there last year that we were all looking forward to Easter lunch with family again this year. The boys got to decorate cupcakes with as much frosting and candies that they wanted (they certainly didn't hold back on that one), hunted for eggs, played with cousins, dog-piled Steves' cousin Courtney, and once again had a wonderful Easter with family. Needless to say, after that very busy day, they were fast asleep before we got on the freeway! Thank you so much Jackie and Kelly for hosting again this year...what a great family tradition!
Garrett decided he wanted to step it up a notch and try his hand at coach pitch baseball this year and had a lot of fun. Garrett learned more rules of the game, had some great hits and helped make some outs for his team. His favorite position was when he got to play catcher...I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that he got to wear the full catcher armor :) Mason had fun playing with his buddy and watching the games and practices too...next season he gets to start playing sports too!
Here is a short clip of Garrett hitting the ball...such a cute little slugger!
The final, and perhaps favorite field trip of the year for Garrett's preschool class was to the fire station. We had the chance to visit it the year before too and it was just as exciting the second time around! Three favorite highlights of their visit were watching a fireman slide down the brass pole, sit as driver in the fire engine and watching the fireman "gear up"...if you can click and enlarge that picture, Mason's face shows how intently he watched that fireman...SO into it!
~May~
Again, another busy month for our family...sleepovers, Mother's Day, random spring fun, a great visit from Granny and Papa, and our first camping trip of the summer!
We love living so close to Steven's brother's family, and the boys especially have fun when ever they get a chance to play with their cousins! This month Colby came over for a sleep over and as always, they had a great time playing Wii, building with blocks (probably what they had the most fun doing), playing outside and having a movie night.
Mother's Day this year was spent at Sea Side and what a perfect day it was! I love that we live close enough that we can pack a lunch and go spend the afternoon on the beach doing what we love most...chasing waves, flying kites, walking the beach, and building sand castles. Thanks boys for such a fantastic day!
Spring fun came in the form of face painting at a local professional basketball game, finger painting, zoo park fun, a great hike and finding salamanders in our back yard (It cracked us up that the boys were both picking up and holding them and Daddy was too freaked out to do it!)...
Granny and Papa came to stay with us for a few days this month and boy did we keep them busy on their visit with a parade, trip to the zoo (we were so proud of Granny for going in Lorikeet landing with the birds!), a day at Lake Merwin with Steven's brother's family, and play at our house.
Our favorite way to spend Memorial Day weekend and celebrate our anniversary together, is always to go camping. This year we tried a new campground and despite the colder weather, we had a fantastic time! Our days were spent bike riding, playing with neighbor camping buddies, and best of all fishing off a SUPER high fishing bridge...funny how much my three boys love fishing, and not one of us like to eat it!
Well, that in a BIG nutshell sums up our Spring, now on to catching up on all of our summer fun thus far...
