Parent Helper

Today was my first experience with being a classroom helper and it was better than I could have ever expected! I have heard many times, from several moms, that children behave differently in class when their parents are around. So, I had mentally prepared myself for the day ahead and prepped Garrett with positive behavior thoughts prior to class and it was a wonderful experience! He was so well behaved in class, one of the few boys that did not need to be reminded time and time again to sit quietly on their carpet square. His teacher even reassured me that so far he is always very pleasant in class...lets hope this continues through out his school years!!! Garrett was anxious to help me find my parent helper badge and put it on. He then instructed me to pay attention to the songs they sang in class so I could sing them too (these are all the songs he has been singing to me the past two weeks now...so cute!). I was put in charge of one of the crafts for the day, making sure that all of the students visited my table to make adorable caterpillars. When craft time was over, Garrett was excited to be able to play with me and show me the toys and activities of his classroom. It felt great to finally be able to spend a day in Garrett's class to see how his new classroom operates and he loved it too!
