Raging Fits

Here are the MANY items (almost everything in his room) I wordlessly removed from Mason's room today during one of his uncontrollable/inconsolable raging fits...all of which were thrown at his door or slammed! I have tried all I can think of to stop these fits unfortunately anything I try calmly or not so calmly worsens the fit of constant screaming to the point he almost vomits, hitting, scratching, shaking...all of which typically lasts a minimum of 30 min.! Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I don't know how much longer any of us can stand this!!! These fits just don't fit Mason's personality...I want my sweet Mason back! And for those of you who may be wondering if they are due to no more pacifier, they are not...these fits started before that and usually, but not always, are due to being tired or overstimulated (I think!).

  1. Oh hon. That's rough! I think you are doing perfectly. Anything thrown during a fit is removed. I, at one point, took absolutely everything out of the boys' room. They had their bed and dresser remaining and that's it. It was a very stark room, but it kept them from having anything to throw or break. I'm trying to remember how long this phase lasted, but I just don't know. Just remind yourself it's just a phase. This too shall pass. Good luck!
